National Evaluation of the National Indigenous English Literacy and Numeracy Program (NIELNS)
This two year national evaluation was completed in 2003. The principal requirements of the NIELNS evaluation were:
• the development of a classification of the NIELNS initiatives (completed);

• synthesis, collation and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to be used as the foundation for preparing biannual reports at State/Territory and national levels, and the major national report at the end of 2003; and

• 24 case studies, involving site visits to providers from which data collected will feed into national reports according to each of six key elements of the NIELNS (case study underway).
 




 






A major evaluation report was provided to the Department of Education Science and Training with recommendations for the further improvement of Indigenous literacy and numeracy.
