Dr Adrian Fordham

Adrian Fordham is an experienced evaluator with a strong research and data analysis capacity. His experience in educational research, the evaluation of educational programs and the development of performance indicators at all levels of education, both nationally and internationally, is extensive. he has been responsible for State, national and international projects which have been high profile, politically sensitive and requiring a very high level of expertise in the collection, analysis and reporting of both quantitative and qualitative information.

 




Adrian has been a secondary school teacher, academic, educational researcher, policy analyst and educational administrator. He has degrees from Monash University, and the Australian National University.

His involvemnet in the development, delivery, evaluation and research of education policies and programs includes:
As principal Research Officer wioth the (then) ACT Schools Authority, he researched the effectiveness of its schooling system and specific school and Commonwealth programmes, including transitional programmes and issues, as part of its High School Review;

As Visiting Fellow at Stanford University, and under the auspices of the International Association for the Assessment of Educational Achievement, he designed and participated in the methodology for studying the effectiveness of teaching and learning across member countries;

As Senior Research Officer at the Australian Council for Educational Research, he developed and implemented nationally applicable evaluation methods and measures for assessing the effectiveness of transition programmes and staff development programmes in TAFE;

As eductional administrator and working with the former Australian Education Council (AEC), he prepared the 1989 and 1990 National Report on Schoolong in Australia and developed and managed "sample studies" as a means of meeting Commonwealth educational accountability;

As OECD Network Chair for the development of educational performance indicators, as well as a member of several other OECD working parties responsible for the development of labour market and financial indicators, he has been at the forefront of the development of Key Performance Indicators for assessing educational effectiveness; and,

As an academic in teacher education lecturing in educational evaluation and educational measurement at the Canberra College of Advanced Education.
